SEEAT Pupils at Citizens Essex: Inspiring Young People to Lead and Listen
On Wednesday 15th October, pupil representatives from Westcliff High School for Girls, The Westborough School, Prince Avenue Academy and Nursery School and Heycroft Primary School attended the Citizens Essex Youth Assembly at USP College joining schools, colleges and universities from across Essex.
The assembly launched the ‘Big Listen’, a campaign running from October to December, where young people will ask their communities: “What pressures do your family face?”
The responses will be shared with Citizens Essex partners and used to shape discussions at the Essex Mayoral Assembly in March, where pupils may have the opportunity to present their findings and question mayoral candidates directly.
SEEAT is proud to be part of Citizens Essex, a movement that empowers young people to engage with democracy and social justice. Through this initiative, our pupils are not only developing their understanding of political processes—they are actively shaping them.
This opportunity reflects SEEAT’s ethos of collaboration, enrichment, and pupil empowerment. As a Trust, we are passionate about providing experiences that help our pupils develop as well-rounded individuals alongside their academic studies. Events like this allow our young people to engage meaningfully with their communities, build confidence, and understand their role in shaping a better future.
